Song plays- 'Pretty Hurts' by Beyonce (Instrumental Version only)
Narrator (female, mature, hints of a deep voice) speaks/ poetic voice:
How often do you howl?
Once? Twice? Between routine? Never?
How often do you breathe (sound of deep sensual inhaling)
the night air as the moonlight seduces your skin?
How often do you laugh (sound of laughter) my dear?
No pretenses. No awkwardness. No social niceties
digging its heels into your chest.
How often do you love
this moment, the earth, that stranger in yourself?
How often do you apologize? (A female voice saying 'I'm sorry' rushed and apologetic)
And break? (Sound of gentle sobbing)
I make a fire (sound of small fire crackling)
I slip off my clothes
the night tells me stories of the time before cages.
Before man's touch became ice.
Before man's touch breathed fire and bullets. (sound of war and breaking news stories)
Before the invention of trust and cupcakes.
With freedom singing through my hair (sound of the ocean and call of an eagle)
and magic quivering in my heart
alone (music stops while this is said)
content
I howl.
(music starts where it stopped)
I howl. I howl. I howl.
(sales voice)
Dove (pause) celebrate the real you.
(end music)
